West Middle School Parents and Guardians,   As your PTCO moves into the Spring Semester, we are gearing up for more teacher grants and continued support for our students.   Our Family Giving campaign kicks off on January 15th! We are excited to follow up our successful Wildcat Challenge this past fall with one more push to fulfill the school’s most important needs on behalf of all our students. We would appreciate your support! This spring’s campaign will run January 15th through January 28th and during this time, we will be highlighting some of the grants that were awarded during the fall semester.   Each student who has a donation on their behalf will be entered into a random drawing for gift cards. Please, be sure to enter their nameand grade as they are registered this year at West! Wildcat Challenge - Thank You!

On behalf of the West Middle School PTCO, I wanted to thank all of the families who generously raised over $67,000 for our students at West. I’d also like to thank all of the volunteers who helped make the Wildcat Challenge possible, and especially the fundraising committee: Caroline Johnson, Laura Pilcher, Carrie Vallar and Jill Smith, headed by Kristine Mize-Spansky, who worked tirelessly alongside Principal Garcia and her staff over the last several months. We also appreciate our West teachers, who helped keep the Wildcat Challenge at top of mind for all of our students, who themselves clearly did a great job bringing the message home to all of us parents!

The Board will be putting these funds to use quickly, starting in the next few weeks with our first round of grants; these are direct requests from teachers and staff who have identified investments from the PTCO fund that can help make our students’ experience at West even better. The grant process is one of the most important and rewarding tasks the PTCO does for the school.
